    Short description

The Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy (OED) is planning a retrofit CO2 capture facility at the Kårstø gas-fired power plant located in the South-West of Norway. The objective is to reduce the emissions from the power plant with up to 1 000 000 tones CO2 per year. The captured CO2 will be compressed, liquefied and ready for pipeline transport. A project team has been established. The current project task/mandate is to prepare all information needed before a final investment decision to be taken by The Norwegian Parliament in the fall 2009. The project is called “CO2 Kårstø” and reports to the state owned Gassnova SF.
